The rural is not remote. The rural is not a geography. The rural is particular.
Based on Myvillages’ research and work on “rural undercurrents” since 2017, the installation hat addresses the ubiquitous - even though marginalised - reality of the rural within urban settings. The installation is a room size a collage of materials, objects and provocations to make ‘rural undercurrents’ an easy-to-understand concept, and to connect it to the different interest, research, expectation, experience of exhibition visitors.
The three videos document local Myvillages projects and their particular “rural undercurrents” from Kassel (Lumbung documenta fifteen), Company Drinks (London), and Boerenzij (Rotterdam).
The WEtransFORM exhibition is curated by Bundeskunsthalle with the New European Bauhaus. and designed by MVRDV.
